The state and non-state archival resources
In connection with determining the legal status of your institution and further handling of its documentation, below is a brief breakdown of the national archival resources according to the Act on National Archival Resources and Archives. It may be helpful.
The national archival resources are divided into:
- State – broadly speaking, these are state and local government bodies
- Non-state, which is further divided into:
2 a) Registered – these are archival materials created as a result of the activities of political parties, social organizations, churches, and others (it should be remembered that when a given institution ceases its operations, these archival materials are transferred to the state archival resources)
2 b) Unregistered – these are archival materials created as a result of the activities of individuals. In short, these are everything our ancestors left us. After all, every family has photos of grandparents, wartime documents, and many others.
